It will help you identify the main components, understand which items depend on the motor option selected at checkout, and recognize parts that intentionally arrive loose or unfinished for machine-specific installation.
This is an electronics retrofit kit for customer installation. It is not a machine-specific installation package unless PwnCNC has explicitly documented your exact CNC model and revision.
Start With Your Order Confirmation
Before counting components, locate the order confirmation or packing information and verify these two selections:
- Controller firmware: Core
- Motor package: 2 Nm, 3 Nm, or no steppers
The firmware selection determines the MASSO feature level. The motor selection determines whether four closed-loop stepper motors should be present and which torque option you should receive.
Base Core Configuration
The current Core configuration includes the following major components:

Motor Contents Depend on Your Selection

The Z-axis motor should look or connect differently. When a motor package is included, the Z motor has additional brake wiring. Do not substitute an X, Y, or B motor for the Z motor merely because the mounting pattern appears similar.
The axis labels X, Y, and B describe a common four-motor arrangement in which Y and B drive the two sides of the gantry. Your machine’s mechanical layout must still be verified.
Items Not Included in the Standard Kit
Unless separately purchased or explicitly shown on your order, the standard Conversion Kit does not include:
- Spindle or router system
- XYZ probe
- Tool setter
- Rotary axis
- Automatic tool changer
- Machine-specific motor brackets, sensor brackets, couplers, or mechanical adapters
- Custom fabrication, third-party rewiring, installation, calibration, or machine-specific engineering
Do not use a photo of another customer’s kit to determine what your order should contain. Optional accessories and machine-specific parts may have been purchased separately.
What May Arrive Loose or Unfinished
Ferrules and Phoenix-Style Connections
The Core wiring system is intended to be routed and terminated during installation. Loose connectors, ferrules, or unterminated cable ends do not automatically indicate a missing assembly. A proper ferrule crimping tool is strongly recommended if wiring must be trimmed or modified.
Extra Cable Length
Cables may be longer than your machine requires because routing distances vary. Do not cut them during the initial inventory. Establish the complete route, allow for axis travel and strain relief, and follow the applicable wiring instructions before changing a cable.
Uninstalled Motors and Sensors
Motors and homing switches are not normally mounted to your CNC before shipment. Machine geometry, mounting patterns, couplers, travel limits, and suitable sensor locations differ by brand, model, size, and production revision.
Shield Termination
Shielded cable construction does not mean every shield drain can be factory-terminated for every machine. Proper termination depends on the documented wiring design and machine layout. Keep protective earth, DC common/0 V, signal return, and shield drain electrically distinct unless the applicable PwnCNC documentation specifically instructs otherwise.
How Core Differs From Advanced
The Core configuration uses the same MASSO G3 Touch hardware platform with the Core firmware level and a simpler field-wired connection system. Compared with the Advanced configuration, Core does not include the Advanced kit’s prewired inlets panel or aircraft-style accessory connection system, and it has fewer expansion and automation capabilities.

Inventory Checklist
Complete this check before mounting, cutting, or modifying anything:

- ☐ Locate the MASSO G3 Touch controller.
- ☐ Locate the 36 V PwnCNC power box.

- ☐ Locate the shielded stepper cable set and supplied connectors/ferrules.
- ☐ If motors were ordered, count three standard axis motors and one Z-axis brake motor.
- ☐ Inspect enclosures, displays, cables, connectors, and motors for shipping damage.
- ☐ Photograph the complete unpacked kit before beginning installation.
- ☐ Keep all packaging until the inventory and damage inspection are complete.
Stop before applying power if a component is damaged, the order configuration does not match the shipment, the AC input labeling is unclear, or a wire or connector appears incorrectly assembled. Do not open the power box, alter mains wiring, bypass a safety device, or energize exposed conductors. Mains and enclosure work should be performed only by someone qualified to do it safely.
